Athlete On Fire

Our guest was addicted to alcohol and drugs. he was 320 pounds and eating fast food multiple times a day. He had a couple herniated discs and was literally killing himself.  The comeback started with a 15 second run and a then to eating better. The runs got longer and he is now an acomplished ultra runner, author, and businessman.  He talks candidly about addiction and how he got out of the biggest rut of his life.  What's next?  Well his 10 years of being sober is this year and he is doing 10 epic events. You should listen to hear how ambitious this plan is!  Enjoy today's inspiring and thoughtful Athlete On Fire!

Daren has a lot going on these days.  From race directing to racing himself, he still considers balancing athletic pursuit with family a huge priority.

Injuries are going to happen after a lifetime of activity.  Daren talks about how to better take care of yourself to insure you can do this moving thing for a very long time.

He talks about Fuego Y Agua and his friend he raced with and how it was a moving experience. He also talks about the blind athlete that he helped finish a brutal race and the effect it had on those around him!

This and alot more on today's show, The Cooldown.

Straight off of the mountain at Brighton Ski Resort we talk about the many things we have learned from some of our guests over the last year. Especially the winter sports athletes.  Visualization, confidence, and skill. With these three characteristics you can pretty much nail anything on the mountain.  We talk about how it applies to us and how you can use to your advantage. Lauren chimes in with a great ski themed workout and we also hint to some big changes for the Athlete On Fire website.

Day Three in Salt Lake City at the big outdoor trade show Outdoor Retailer brought more inspiration and conversation. From a man who has been to both Poles more than anyone in the world to a story about a poor little snake that got in a monkeys way, we have some good stuff to share with you.  Big City Mountaineers had Elizabeth share the mission of the charity and fun story about getting intimidated by a legend mountaineer so much that she wouldn't high five him.  Enjoy the correspondence from Athlete On Fire!

Mollie and Sean Busby are no strangers to adventure.  A professional snowboarder and recreational skiier left Utah for the grandeur of Montana, and moved into a yurt.  The adventure isn't stuck in Montana though.  They travel the world backcountry skiing and boarding, have a charity to run, and put on camps for kids all over the world.  An energetic and candid talk today should leave you anxious to get out the door. Thanks for listening to the Athlete On Fire show live from OR in Salt Lake City.
