Athlete On Fire

Darrell and Megan venture out to the Foolproof brewery to experience one of the more...off-color...athletic events out there - a “beer mile”. Learn what a beer mile is, how it came to be a “thing”, and what it's really to participate in one. Also… Learn why Darrell came frighteningly close to his first voluntary DNF. And in a shocking turn of events...Megan beats Darrell in a race! All this and more in episode 5!

You can learn more about Foolproof Brewing Company and the events they hold (both at and away from the brewery) at www.foolproofbrewing.com

Vanessa found herself in a position to take some time out and do as she pleased, so grasping that opportunity, decide to go around the world and drink in what there is to see, but does it via her own route.

Taking in as many OCR, endurance and running events as she can, she can be found anywhere from on the Great Wall of China, to the mountains of southern California.

But why do something so extreme? Why not do something less punishing on the body? In this episode, Vanessa explains to Cookie from Team SISU why she does what she does.

Nolan's 14 is a run over the 14 summits over 14,000 ft. in Colorado's Sawatch Range, from Mt. Massive to Mt. Shavano in either direction. You can choose your own route between summits, but the most practical routes have been estimated to be 88 to 106 miles with 44,000 ft. of climb. Cutoff is 60 hours to the last summit. I

This is not a race.

Nolan's has been around since the early 90's but has gained popularity with the growth of ultrarunning.

Eric completed Nolans ins 2012 in 57:27:14 after scouting the course since 2003. This year Eric attempted the FKT on the 14ers but was thwarted by bad weather.
